Last Episode of BSG

I was disappointed in the last episode and most of the season. I like character driven stories to a point, but I need better plot resolution. The spooky angel action was weak, and no ship of lights either! Matt, you have convinced me that the show was better off ending with the finding of radioactive Earth. The idea of the people giving up on technology was naive. The lawyer guy was the only one making sense at that moment. The dangers of technology are real, but going tribal is the quickest way to get a lot of people dead. You don't go from relying on advanced tech to nothing and expect good things to come about. These and the treatment of Anders are my main gripes.

Now that it is all over, I can state that I like the original series more. I expect to be in the minority here, but the old show had something the new show doesn't. Any ideas on what that might be, because I can't quite put my finger on it.

Agreed, agreed and agreed. Keep the technology and guess what you get? You have two other planets to colonize after the radiation wears off, assuming that you don't come up with a way to absorb radiation to make things safe for plant and animal (and I guess robot) life.

I think what you fingering for Raz is the 70's cold war feel. From what I remember of story lines of the original series there were fewer story based episodes and more stand-alone ones. Like the old G.I. Joe or X-Men cartoons. There were always underlying stories or advancements (that the bad guys would make), but for the most part it was just conflict. And correct me if I'm wrong Matt, but wasn't there a fighter launch in almost every episode?
If a show has really good SFX I (as the nerd in me will tell you) will give a show much more attention than it deserves. If a show has realistic writing I will also praise it. The only show that I've seen and is now cancelled that had both was Firefly. BSG had both, but only at times. Oh, and the Star Trek series "Enterprise" was rockin when it got canned.
